Formed in Patchogue, New York in the summer of 2008, The Given Motion was a distant concept preceded by an undeniable energy and creative force, one that has sustained the band through triumph and hardship to their first record, Human Dictionary, which is available on One Alliance Records in April 2012.

[Note: The song in the video isn't the one being reviewed. As this is a brand new and still unreleased track they haven't filmed a music video for it yet, although you can listen to it here along with some of their other tunes.]

Okay so here it goes... wow! I downloaded the new record from The Given Motion called "Don't Blink". At first I got a Blink 182/Sum 41 vibe but then I realised it had an entire vibe of its own!

The track starts with some groovy chords on a guitar and the bass part quickly follows. With drums and a rhythm guitar the layers are built and then the vocals come in!

The lead singer C.J. Schiatta has an awesome voice! It is both smooth and sharp: it has balance and tranquillity in it despite the song's rock nature. The lyrics are just as epic and with summer approaching are quite appropriate!

I hope you have an awesome day!

I like the songs on their myspace, but they definitely need some better quality videos on their YouTube! ;)

You know what? I totally agreed with your YouTube thoughts and passed the comments along to the band's PR guys. As a result, they have uploaded an acoustic version of their new single which is now on the article.

Conclusive proof that leaving comments on CLIC sites can make a difference! :)
