Bird workshop at Cwmamman Youth Club

Cwmamman Youth Club hosted a special wild bird workshop for its members on Tuesday July 17

Visitors (Birds of Prey) and members from the Glan Tawe Hawking Club attended a youth club session to deliver an interactive and educational workshop to young people from the Amman Valley.

Youth Club members learned about the birds during an information session, followed by a questions and answers. The young people had the opportunity to interact and have the unique opportunity to get up close, hold and touch the spectacular birds from a magnificent desert falcon to a tiny burrowing owl.

Cerith Evans, 14 said: “tonight’s session was great. My favorite was the burrowing owl as it’s so small and it lives underground”

Connor Mitchell, said: “it was a really good experience. I enjoyed holding the birds and learning how they live in different countries.”

Cari Matthews, 15, said, “Miley was so cute and friendly, to begin with I was scared but got used to their company and even held the falcon”

Angharad Caines, 16, said: “The burrowing owl was sooo tiny and cute, really enjoyed seeing all the birds.

Dan Jenkins, 17, said: “Tonight was very messy… lol! and I had the job of cleaning up… haha! It was really interesting and a really good experience”

The young people seemed to be amazed to see theses magnificent birds up close, and they learnt a lot about their habits and natural history.

Everybody at Cwmamman Youth Club would like to thank Glan Tawe Hawking Club for a fantastic opportunity and experience that the gave to members of youth club, Educating young people and taking the time and care sharing their knowledge and expertises about wild birds ensuring that young people enjoyed the session and will no walk with their heads looking up trying to spot  these magnificent birds.
